Environmental Design & Research, Landscape Architecture, Engineering & Environmental Services, D.P.C. (EDR) is seeking a versatile, team-oriented Director of Ecological Services to join EDR’s Environmental Services Group in our Syracuse, Rochester, or Albany office. Candidates to be considered will have at least 10 years of experience conducting and managing all aspects of natural resource-based field studies (e.g., wetland and stream delineations, invasive species surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, habitat assessments, etc.). Such experience will include preparing for and conducting on-site surveys, processing field collected data, preparing existing conditions baseline reports, conducting site visits with agency personnel to review/confirm results of surveys in multiple regions/districts in New York State (e.g., jurisdictional determinations), preparing permit applications, responding to agency requests for additional information, and facilitating the issuance of necessary permits. The successful candidate will have strong writing, verbal communication, problem-solving, scheduling, and staff management skills and will be able to demonstrate substantive experience and an in-depth knowledge of multiple regulatory processes such as Section 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), and Article VII and Article 10 of the New York Public Service Law. Requires a minimum BS/BA degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in permitting and licensing renewable energy (solar/wind) generation and energy transmission projects, and relevant professional certifications (e.g., wildlife biology, wetland scientist).
