EDR Cultural Resources Division Participates in 2019 NYSAA Annual Meeting

EDR’s Cultural Resources Division is proud to sponsor this year’s annual meeting of the New York State Archaeological Association and the spring meeting of the New York Archaeological Council, held on April 26-28 in Johnstown, NY.  The annual conference highlights recent discoveries, research, and issues of professional practice in New York archaeology. Our archaeology staff is looking forward to attending, getting caught up on the latest finds, and reconnecting with colleagues.

As part of the conference, Patrick Heaton, EDR’s Director of Cultural Resources, is participating in a panel discussion sponsored by the New York Archaeological Council regarding Native American Consultation Practices. This panel will include professional archaeologists and agency representatives discussing best practices and regulatory requirements for Tribal consultation and sets the stage for a larger convocation on this topic to include Tribal Historic Preservation Officers and other stakeholders later this year.  Pat will share his perspective and experiences with successful Tribal consultation experiences on recent EDR projects.
