EDR has been working with the Town of Marcy to update its 2009 Master Plan in light of developments at and around the emerging nanotechnology campus. Our efforts began in mid-2015 with a series of three neighborhood meetings, and have continued through the drafting of revised Character Areas, an analysis of residential and commercial development potential, and assessments of infrastructural capacity and environmental concerns. The aim of this planning initiative, which has been funded through the NYSERDA Cleaner Greener Communities program, has been to utilize the principles of Smart Growth to ensure that the town can maintain its rural and suburban character while still expanding its tax base.
Last week’s adoption of the updated Master Plan is a big step in the right direction for the Town of Marcy, and we look forward to continuing to assist through its implementation!
