EDR has begun working with the Ontario County Planning Department and Agricultural Enhancement Board to update the county’s Agricultural Enhancement Plan, originally published in 2000. The project, which is funded in part through a grant from the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets, will help to identify the critical local and regional resources that contribute to Ontario County’s rich agricultural heritage, and will chart a course of action for the continued growth of agricultural businesses in the county.
EDR’s planners have been collaborating with the project advisory committee and subconsultant George Frantz as we kick off this exciting project with a series of focus group discussions to examine the depth and breadth of the agricultural sector throughout the county. We have also launched a project Facebook page to connect with members of the farming community and general public, and to spread the word about opportunities for public input and involvement in our work.
