Congratulations to Visualization Project Manager Kiva VanDerGeest, Senior Planner Sarah Krisch, and Senior Project Manager Sam Gordon, for recently earning their AICP Certification from the American Planning Association. The AICP designation demonstrates competence and integrity among planners, requiring a broad knowledge of planning principles and practices; continuing education in the latest tools, trends, laws, and ethics; a commitment to enriching the profession through education and innovation; and adherence to a strict code of ethics.

Kiva is a Project Manager with over six years of professional experience in planning, visual resource assessment, and geographic information systems mapping and analysis. Kiva earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art Institute of Chicago.  Before joining EDR, she served as a Community Planner with Cayuga County Planning & Economic Development, and with the City of Rome Community & Economic Development Department, where she managed large-scale planning grants including NYSDOS Brownfield Opportunity Area Programs and the Empire State Development Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

Sarah is a Senior Planner with over six years of experience in municipal planning and community design. Sarah has a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hunter College. While attending SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry, Sarah was recognized as an Olmsted Scholar by the Landscape Architecture Foundation. Previously, she was a Planner with the Madison County Planning Department, where she contributed planning, landscape, and graphic design services to municipalities within the County. Additionally, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Community Design Research.

Sam is a Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of experience in planning and sustainability. He has a Master of Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry, a Master of Professional Studies, Environmental and Community Land Use Planning from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy and Management from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry. His experience includes projects involving neighborhood revitalization, greenway planning, sustainability planning, and mobility planning for public, private, and international clients.
