EDR’s OSW Team Celebrates a Whirlwind Year

The offshore wind industry is nothing new to the EDR Visualization or Cultural Resources teams as they have been involved in project work since the very start of offshore wind development in the US. So, it was a perfect fit a year ago when EDR brought on several new staff to expand the firm’s capabilities and formally established an Offshore Wind team with the resources to manage the full environmental regulatory scope for Offshore Wind development throughout the United States.

Even with being new employees of the firm, the expanded EDR team had already worked together over the years on various initiatives within the offshore wind sector. The strong preexisting relationship truly allowed the team to hit the ground running and did they ever. Within months the team secured the role as the prime federal and state environmental permitting consultant for the Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind project, as well as working with other developers to explore renewable energy generation opportunities that may exist on the West Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico.

EDR’s combined offshore wind project experience broadly covers the US Atlantic Coast development landscape: members of the EDR team have provided environmental consulting, permitting, and technical services for seven of the 16 currently active offshore wind leases.

“The offshore wind energy market is fertile ground for business success and we are thrilled that our team is growing along with the industry in technical expertise, project experience, and geographic coverage,” said Chris Rein, EDR’s Director of Offshore Wind Services.
