Hemlock Ridge Solar is an approved 200 MW-AC solar project located in the Towns of Barre and Shelby in central Orleans County, along Crane Road, Townline Road, and Burns Road. The project is located about 5 miles southeast of Medina, New York. Hemlock Ridge Solar is committed to the responsible development of renewable energy as a catalyst for long-term community benefit.
Once constructed the project is anticipated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 282,000 metric tons each year – the equivalent of powering over 36,000 homes’ electricity use per year. EDR served as the lead environmental permitting consultant for the project providing professional services including environmental field studies (wetland delineations and avian surveys), cultural resources, socioeconomics, and overall project administration for the 94-c permitting process. Also provided was civil engineering for the project that included road alignments, stormwater management design, SWPPP preparation, overall site grading, and erosion and sediment control.
