Rockland Main Influent Pumping Station Upgrade

The Main Influent Pump Station is located at the headworks of the Rockland County Sewer District No. 1 (RCSD) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located in Orangeburg, NY. The treatment plant services an area of approximately 73 square miles and has a peak capacity of 80 mgd.  The wet well to the main pump station is located downstream of the plant’s screening process and delivers the influent to the aerated grit chamber. EDR was retained by RCSD to upgrade the Main Influent Pump Station. The project involved: 

  •  Installation of 6 new pumps with 250 HP motors to replace the existing pumps
  • Installation of new variable frequency drives for the new pumps 
  • Installation of new electrical equipment 
  • Upgrade of the instrumentation and control system at the pumping station, including connection to the overall RCSD SCADA system 
  • New HVAC system for the building addition 
  • Design bypass pumping system 
  • Modifications to piping layout to improve flexibility for future serving and replacement of equipment in pump station
