Village of Potsdam Water System

Village of Potsdam
Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York

The Village of Potsdam produces high-quality drinking water for its 10,000 residents, including two large universities (Clarkson and State University of New York at Potsdam), and several commercial clients. The water system draws from the Raquette River and consists of a treatment plant, which features the use of sand filtration, along with two elevated storage tanks and several miles of water mains.

EDR is providing engineering services for improvements to Potsdam’s water infrastructure. Our services include development of an overall water system model for the storage and distribution system to analyze system response under normal and fire flow conditions, fluoride system improvements and water system extensions.  The results of the water system study are being utilized to prioritize and plan for system improvements. The improvements are prioritized for implementation over several years, which allows the Village to lower financial and operational impacts on users.  The first project that is currently being implemented is the rehabilitation of a 1.5-million gallon storage tank that serves the Village.
