Estabrook Conservancy

Location: Fayetteville, New York

Date: 2020

Project Description:

EDR led the planning and design for the Estabrook Conservancy, formerly the Wellington House, to transform this nationally significant historic estate into a year-round hospitality and events destination. Our work balanced preservation of the property’s historic character with enhancements that celebrate its landscape and expand community use.

Key elements of our work include:

  • Restoration of the Tudor Revival manor house, supporting buildings, and historic gardens.
  • New site features such as orchards, terraces, a reflecting pool, labyrinth, outdoor event space, and amphitheater terrace.
  • Ecological and cultural resources assessments, plus engineering inspections of historic cisterns to guide sensitive redevelopment.

Through thoughtful planning and integrated services, EDR helped the client honor the estate’s historic character while creating a modern, flexible facility that will enrich the community for generations to come.
