EDR led the planning and design of Le Moyne College’s central quad transformation, replacing underutilized parking and aging infrastructure with a cohesive, flexible campus open space that strengthens identity and improves daily use. Beginning with a comprehensive study of circulation, viewsheds, and arrival sequences, EDR worked closely with the Campus Architect and Steering Committee to establish a long-term vision centered on creating a welcoming gathering space and defining a strong first impression at Grewen Hall.
Key contributions included:
• Campus master planning and phased implementation strategy, guiding four coordinated phases of redevelopment to minimize disruption and align with institutional priorities
• Transformation of surface parking into a central green, establishing primary pedestrian pathways, and organizing the campus core
• Design of a signature plaza at Grewen Hall, drawing on Art Deco architectural elements to inform paving patterns, scale, and spatial definition
• Expansion of pedestrian networks and landscape systems, extending improvements east to Reilly Hall and west to new event-oriented spaces
• Creation of flexible outdoor amenities, including plazas, seating areas, a pavilion, a fireplace, and an amphitheater-style space to support campus events and daily use
The result is a unified campus quad that enhances circulation, reinforces architectural character, and provides a central, highly functional gathering space for students, faculty, and visitors.
