Marshall Street

University Hill Corporation
Syracuse, New York

EDR provided site planning and design, and construction administration services for the streetscape improvements for the 100 block of Marshall Street and the adjacent block of South Crouse Avenue, on the northern perimeter of the Syracuse University campus. The revitalization of this unique collegiate environment in an urban context included the installation of brick pedestrian and vehicular pavement surfaces, custom-designed ornamental street lights, benches, bike racks, a bus shelter, information kiosks and seating areas. Parking was reconfigured from a parallel system to a diagonal parking system using contrasting-colored brick pavers to designate spaces. This measure enhanced pedestrian safety and created additional parking spaces to support businesses in the district.

The American Society of Landscape Architects recognized this project with an Honor Award for Public Landscape Design.
