Maintenance of roadways is an important part of managing transportation infrastructure. Geographic information systems (GIS) are an effective tool for managing municipal infrastructure data. As part of a consultant team from 2017–2019, EDR assisted Onondaga County with GIS data management in support of the County’s Pavement Management Analysis report. Geospatial services included reviewing and correcting geodatabases of road centerlines and pavement limits, and populating databases with traffic count information. These data support the County’s ability to monitor roadway conditions and prioritize pavement rehabilitation, which is essential to maintaining the County road network.
