Over 19 miles of trails were constructed or improved adhering to sustainable trail design guidelines. These sustainable shared-use trails provide neighborhood connectivity to the Irondequoit Bay Parks and offer a wealth of opportunities for the public to partake in active recreation. The possibility of sharing trails between off-road cyclists, hikers, and others generated a great deal of community involvement and input during the park planning process. EDR developed a “Stacked Loop Trail System” that provides a series of interconnected loops and creates different options for customized distances, routes and levels of challenge.
